FIVE THINGS FOR A FRIDAY
NOT BORING
The second SFCT Board took place this week. In person, with only a few attendees working remotely. It was another bumper three-hour meeting with lots of items discussed. It was lovely to see so many student grants being given out – a reflection that Further and Higher Education is going back to campus! I know many of you will want to know the outcome of discussions at the Board so we are going to take a breath and report back over the coming weeks.
STRATHERRICK COMMUNITY HALL
I got a chance to finally see inside the Hall. Looks great and hopefully the work on the roof will alleviate some of the problems towards the back of the facility. We got a chance to talk about how we could help each other for the benefit of the community and it’s wonderful to see it opening back up again.
SSE
I met our SSE contact Marianne for the first time in person too. We had a good chat about the Community Action Plan and how it is going and how we are coping with changes they have requested of the Trust (as our funder) and the implications that has on others who request funding from us. There is a change and change is never easy but long term we hope the benefits for the community will be for the better.
MAGAZINE OUT SOON
The SFCT Community Magazine will be out soon. This time we are delivering a copy to as many houses that we have addresses for (for less money and more impact – yeah!) You will be able to read about work we have been doing on Broadband so you can make an informed choice about what future provision there will be. It’s a major article and one I’d advise you to take a look at (amongst all the other fabulous content).
LUNCH
It really has been a substantial week with not enough hours in the day – or evening, with a few meetings then too. My head’s buzzing with work on all the community projects. As I said we will feed back over the next couple of weeks. After a site meeting with the Forestry I did give myself half an hour for my first lunch at Cameron’s Tea Rooms. It was a beautiful sunny day, got myself a bacon roll, some local honey, a couple of books about the area, caught up with some emails before taking 15 minutes to process where I had to be next, if some wild and crazy ideas will work and the timetable to June next year! Certainly not a boring week!
