Notice to the Community: Change of Date for Public Meeting on Foyers Stores

Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust (SFCT) would like to update the community regarding the previously announced public meeting relating to the proposed purchase of Foyers Stores.

SFCT has received a substantial grant application from Boleskine Community Care, intended to part-fund the acquisition of the Foyers Stores for the benefit of the community. As previously communicated, SFCT committed to holding a public meeting to allow the community to provide input before any final decision is made.

We had originally advised that this public meeting would take place on Wednesday 14 January. However, it has become clear that this date is now too tight to allow sufficient time for all necessary parties to properly evaluate the information provided by BCC this week. SFCT Directors, our funders (SSE), and independent assessors all need adequate time to consider responses to the questions raised to ensure a thorough and robust assessment. We also need to give enough notice to allow people to attend, including the community, the community council and our funders.

To allow this process to be completed properly, we are therefore proposing to move the public meeting to Monday 19 January. This will start at 7pm, in the Wildside Centre, Whitebridge. The SFCT extra Board meeting at which a final decision will be taken will still take place on Wednesday 21 January, as previously scheduled so as not to delay the decision.

We appreciate that changes to dates can be inconvenient and we thank the community for its understanding. This is an important decision with long-term implications for Foyers and the wider area, and it is essential that we take the time needed to get this right. We are working really hard to meet deadlines that are out with our control so please bear with us.

Further details about the public meeting will be shared shortly. In the meantime, we remain committed to transparency and to ensuring that community views are heard and carefully considered as part of this process.
