FIVE THINGS FOR A FRIDAY 6th October

As I still have a school age child I am still on ‘school’ time so a flurry of emails around October from some staff asking for time off means it must be school holidays time!  Fortunately my child is 17, so on the whole can fend for himself, so I and a couple of others will be holding the fort for a couple of weeks.  However after some significant deadlines have been met recently after some very hard work I am hoping people can take some well earned time off.

1) ERROGIE DOORS OPEN DAY

Come and join us at Errogie Church on Saturday 7th October between 10am and 2pm! The Heritage Group will be there to talk about the mobile pulpit, which has been put back up in the church thanks to some helpful volunteers.  You will also be able to view the plans for phase 2 of the Errogie Church project, and see for yourself the work that has gone into phase 1.   There will be live music and refreshments – donations welcome, any money raised will go to The South Loch Ness Heritage Group.

2) PLAYPARK CONSULTATION

There are a few designs we want to get your views on for the Playpark at Wildside.  You could see the designs at the Community Catch Up, yesterday at Baby and Toddlers and today at 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

3) RIVERSIDE MEETING

The Riverside Liaison Group met to discuss the landscaping design, put together with local residents with help from the landscaper and architect.  This design will be shared wider for consultation to other residents around the area.  The Liaison group were also informed of the work to cover planning conditions.  I’m also pleased to report that the quotes are now in for the Slipway and if all is well we expect work to finally begin in March for twelve weeks.

4) BOARD MEETING

The Trust Board Meeting was this week, with the annual Pulse Survey and the AGM to follow in November.  Although we have the large legacy projects (listed above) we are still working on pathways, Inverfarigiag land, bio-diversity, individual study and group grants, transport and housing projects (to name just  few) from the Community Action Plan and Place Plan.  There is also the Community Asset Transfer of the Forest School and details of that are now on the Forestry website here Farigaig Forest School Building and Fasnagruig Paddock - Forestry and Land Scotland

You can also Walk the Walk in Farigaig – details of the 3.2 mile walk here Walk the Walk | Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust (stratherrickcommunity.org.uk)

5) WINTER HELP

The high cost of living has not gone away (for everyone!) and the Trust and SSE have arranged for £18,500 of help during this winter for a second (and final) year for help wiht food and fuel.  This is administered by the Knockie Trust.  This year there is a closing date of 31st October for your request.  Details can be found in the magazine delivered to your door this week or online here Food and Fuel Grants this winter! | 02 October 2023 | Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust (stratherrickcommunity.org.uk)
