Stained glass window design unveiled!

Over the past 18 months, local Artist Jacqueline Briggs has been working with the children from the local schools and youth club to create a design for a new stained glass window for Errogie Church. Following some very hard work ‘behind the scenes’, the proposed design was unveiled to the pupils of Stratherrick and Aldourie schools on Monday, and the children were also given the opportunity to create their own individual pieces of artwork that will form the finished window.

As part of the continuing development of Errogie Church, the steering group were keen to develop a specific project to involve the local children within the building, and the idea of creating a new stained glass window to replace one in the gable end that got broken many years ago was suggested. With help from funding by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we ran a series of workshops both with the local school children and the youth club to help form a design. Their ideas have been amazing, and the design reflects many of the themes that came out of the workshops – and the children will have a lasting link with the church building. We do hope that involvement in this project will inspire some of the budding artists to develop their talents too!

There are a few more tweaks to be made to make it compatible for being transformed into a window, and once these have been completed, the design will be handed to a stained glass window designer to create the finished masterpiece!
