Heritage talk audiences top 100!

Stratherrick Public Hall was busy for two shows last week when Alister Chisholm presented the recordings of his late father’s memories to attentive audiences keen to hear this unique archive recordings from last century. The interior of the hall is looking much improved after recent refurbishment.

Alister Chisholm’s father Alister and his mother Sadie lived at Lochgarthside and with the croft, haulage and post office it was always busy. Word had spread wide about the two shows. Well-behaved primary pupils from Farr travelled over the Calanour for the first show and people from Drumnadrochit and even Wick had made the special trip to attend the event.

Alister commented ‘I was pleased with the turn out and especially pleased to see the children. There were also new faces and people who were more recent arrivals in the area who have a strong interest in the local heritage. My thanks go to the ladies from Soup to Go also worked two shifts, afternoon and evening, which meant folk stayed around for social conversations at both events.’

The group also has a facebook page with a recent post showing the reconstruction of the Wellington Bomber from WW2 which was recovered from Loch Ness in 1985.
