FIVE THINGS FOR A FRIDAY

CAP COMING TO YOUR DOOR

A copy of the Community Action Plan should be popping through your door any day now.  Read it online here Home | Future Ideas (communityfuture.net)

As I explained at the launch this plan is about Place, People and Family.

As a family we have ground rules we have to follow.  Some we like, some we don’t, some we don’t understand but ground rules there are to keep us on the straight and narrow.  We also have our family budget.  Our family is reasonably well off for day to day expenses but we have to make decisions what to spend our disposable income on.  Our family have asked the Community Trust to look after the ground rules and the family budget.

As a family we decide what to spend our income on.  What do we need? What would improve our daily lives? What would benefit our family now and in the future?  It may be a new house, an extension, a holiday, new car to take kids to school, paying Uni tuition fees… Sometimes it may benefit the whole family.  Sometimes one or two of us.  You have decided what you’d like to see happen during the recent community consultation.

The now have to decide who is the best person in the family to take it forward.  All families are the same – the person who doesn’t get much done, the one who takes their time, the one who you can rely on, the one who gets things done.  That is the process we are going through now – who is the best person to deliver the ideas suggested for the family?

Most times our family needs some help to make our ideas reality.  It may be another family member, a friend, an uncle from 150 miles down the road, an architect, professional builder, plumber, electrician, travel agent, car salesperson. We have to budget for that and plan around their availability.  Sometimes other factors may impact our plan but we try our best to make thing happen.

Sometimes, as a family, things develop as our plan progress. We may get a good idea or it inspires one of our family members to go off and do something even better.  As you read through the Community Action Plan have that in mind.  The CAP is simply all about place, people and family.  I hope you can find something that interests you to help with.
