NEW PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR
To develop project plans, ensure timely liaison to make projects happen and support our volunteer led teams the Trust has taken on a new Project Co-ordinator. I’m delighted to announced Caroline Tucker will join the Trust on 8th June. We will introduce her on the website and in the newsletter soon.
COMMUNITY ASSEMBLY – HALF TIME
I attended the Half Time Team Talk at the Community Assembly last night. Thanks to everyone who attended and it was great to hear everyone’s view and participate a little. You can now catch up with everything so far here Stratherrick Updates | Future Ideas (communityfuture.net) and dates for the next five Action Groups that will take part in June will be posted soon. Thanks to everyone who has taken part so far and Nick Wright and the team for helping guide the community towards a vision for the future.
RIVERSIDE FIELD
Riverside Field Sports Facility Planning Application has been submitted. This was due late last year but was delayed pending a roads report. We believe the Community Council will ask for an extension for community responses to the Planning Application as they were only informed by Planning prior to their monthly meeting on Tuesday. The Trust fully support that move having only got our notification on Wednesday.
I had a chat with one of the local residents to address some concerns and hopefully the newly established Community Steering Group will help guide the Trust on proposed next steps. The lead Community Directors hope to share that with you next week. If you are interested in this development and want to get actively involved click the ‘Get Involved’ button on the website here Riverside Field | Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust (stratherrickcommunity.org.uk)
This project has been ongoing since 2014, one year after the last community survey way back in 2013! The land was purchased using a grant from the Scottish Land Fund for sports activity/facilities and greenspace initiatives for families, children and to improve local health and well being. The Trust made the application and purchased the land on behalf of the community as the recognised community body to do so. The full story of how the community got to this point 7 years later is in this document 21_02331_FUL-DESIGN_STATEMENT-2373117.pdf (highland.gov.uk) It makes interesting weekend reading as we all enter a new chapter.
Have a great weekend and I hope the outlook improves!
