Nail-biting times in Stornoway this Saturday!

Lewis Camanachd are still sitting pretty, if slightly uncomfortably, just one point clear at the top of Shinty’s North Division Two. The black puddings are still on-ice waiting to see if this Saturday’s scoreline at Cannich helps them win the division title this year. Chasers Lochcarron could only manage a draw last week at Kilmallie, so are still one point below the Lewis team who have no more games to play.

Lochcarron’s final opportunity to earn the vital points is this Saturday when a lowly Strathglass could still deny Carranaichs the North Division Two crown. It is unlikely that Lochcarron will lose, but this is shinty, where upsets late in the season might just occur. A win for Lochcarron would see them take the North Division Two title, a defeat would see Lewis take the honours and a draw would mean that Lewis and Lochcarron would have to face each other in a squeaky playoff.

The second match fixture for this Saturday sees the two mid-tablers - Aberdeen University and Boleskine Camanachd play at Inverarnie. The Aberdeen Uni team will end up fifth in league and Boleskine will be sixth, regardless of the goals scored, but both teams will want to end their league card with a win.
