FIVE THINGS FOR A FRIDAY

I’ve been away most of this week, so a very short Five Things For Friday this week.

LOOKING AFTER STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS

We are undertaking staff appraisals which feeds into objectives for the year ahead.  It is quite clear that staff, alongside volunteers, work above and beyond on behalf of our community.  We all have a duty of care to support each other. In all community groups the health and well being of staff, volunteers and friends who work tirelessly for the benefit of the community now and well into the future is a key priority above all others. Read our inclusion, respect and diversity pathways document here

SFCT TV

While skulking around the Trust website today (as you do!) I chanced upon a new channel – SFCT TV.  Go have a look at local community videos for Soup To Go, Community Catch Up, Fireworks and Indoor Carpet Bowls.  It’s great to put a face to names of people involved in some of our local groups, don’t you think?  If you recognise them say thanks for the work they do.  They will appreciate it and make their day.  I look forward to seeing some more of your videos in the future.

WE ALL HATE SURVEYS!

We all hate surveys.  But here’s another one from the Communications Team about the website here

From the independently produced Community Pulse Survey by SCDC (for all you fact finders out there that is the Scottish Community Development Centre) to feedback for events such as Winter Wonderland or the Highland Gathering this helps improve year on year the work and activities we do. Your positive contribution and comments do help make things better! Thank you for taking the time to have your opinion heard, it is really helpful.

Behind they scenes we are also working on a new booking system at Wildside for the website which, if successful, we can role out to other groups/activities.  This helps streamline bookings, information and payments.  I also know people are being asked to participate in the Highland Gathering 2024 and we have already had responses from some very keen groups to participate.

WOOD, WOOD, WOOD

We were able to make safe fallen trees around the Wildside which we will provide as wood for winter 2024.  Work at Inverfarigaig will also produce wood stocks for that area.  We also are about to process wood down at Foyers.  Once we are ready we will take names / times to distribute the wood for free to community members.

I know this was a very popular activity last year.  Many members of the community pitched in alongside contractors and staff and have already offered their proactive and positive help to support those who really value this service after Covid and the cost of living.  Thank you for that.

SURGERY

If you are a member of the Trust I am holding person to person surgeries in the Wildside Centre on 29th Feb, 6th and 7th March from 3 to 4pm if you want to ask any questions about the work of the Trust.  I am not sure if I will be able to answer all questions but I aim to direct you to someone who can. It would be lovely to meet you if.  Make an appointment at tony-ceo@sfctrust.org.uk
