This is our 598th story on this website....amazing!
FINELY TUNED CAR?
Like a finely tuned eco friendly car the staff team, Trust Board and community volunteers have been humming around with a hive of activity this week. I am constantly in awe of people’s commitment. That commitment has been noticed with some good news we received this week. We will share that at the community event on Saturday before shouting it from the rooftops next week. Well done to the whole community for what is a great achievement. Find out what it is on Saturday – he teases!
SATURDAY COMMUNITY CATCH UP
Five Things For A Friday moves to a Thursday as we prepare for the Community Catch Up. A sequel, if you like, from the Success Evening we had earlier this year (when groups talked about what their successes are) but a little more informal, a chance to find out more info, have a bite to eat. We hope to run both events on an annual basis, improve on them, but we have to start somewhere, however rough and ready it may seem! We’ve tried to capture as many things that are going on in the Strath as we can and how everything we do is connected to a common goal of continuing to improve life and work in the area. In conversation on the day you may find out things that you can share with your friends and family. Please do come along to the Stratherrick Hall, in Gorthleck, from 11am to 2pm on Saturday 23rd September.
GIVE THE COMMUNITY COUNCIL A GO
Representatives will be available from some groups on the day. The Community Council will be there. Nominations to be on the Community Council close in a couple of weeks and this is your opportunity to speak to the Chair to see if it is for you. A strong community council is needed locally and if we end up having more people than places then having an election is even better. All you have to do is live in the area.
STAND BY FOR ACTION
The Trust will be there. We are of course hoping to encourage you to stand for the Board but there are loads of projects, clubs and organisations to get involved with. We will be showing latest plans for Errogie, proposals which went to local residents for landscaping at Riverside Field on Wednesday night this week, kids can choose their favourite playpark designs, presentations the pathways group gave to the Board about their amazing work and a wee video about Soup To Go who will be doing the food at the event.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Behind everything listed above there is a team working behind the scenes. This week we’ve all been dealing with annual accounts, pensions, magazine content, building work, steering groups, transport, housing, inductions, minutes for meetings, tree felling, skip filling, polycrub preparing, payroll preparing, supporting groups activity, toilet maintenance, AGMs, working with marketing teams, insurances, poster making, party preparing, land risk assessments, landscaping, chatting with architects, chasing solicitors, grant assessments, van delivery times, funding applications, HR matters, playparks, holidays, fixed assets, media releases, winter funding, mailings, grant meetings, local area tours and leases. There has been meetings, emails and calls flying around from 6 in the morning until late at night. It’s not all sexy and been a little crazy. A fairly normal week! Are we there yet? Not quite but going in the right direction.
