THANK YOU SOUP TO GO

Soup to go started back in 2020 providing a takeaway service when social distancing was still in force during the COVID pandemic.

There were always four fantastic soups on offer, and these were distributed to members of the community from the Wildside Centre entrance every Monday where a socially-distanced queue was organised. A network of drivers was always on hand to deliver soup to those unable to collect it themselves.

When social distancing eased, Soup to Go started a sit-down table service between the two main rooms in the Wildside Centre and continued providing this service until the end of last month.

Soup to Go provided not only a waitress table service with a smile and good craic, but also created a venue where members of the community could meet with old friends and make new ones.

In recent months the age span of those attending has ranged from a 3-day old baby to shall we say, the ‘Last of the summer wine’ age group. (You have to be of a certain era to get that one!)

Soup to Go has remained open in rain, hail, snow and shine. It has taken some exceptional weather conditions or circumstances for them to cancel on a Monday! A great social gathering has been created and it will be greatly missed by all.

Thank you to Lyn, Pam, Gillian and the volunteer team for all your hard work, front of house and behind the scenes for the past four and a half years, a massive thank you to each and every one of you. Enjoy your retirement, you deserve it!

We have an extended article in our Autumn Magazine, with memories and photo’s from the very last day Soup To Go were open at The Wildside Centre in September. Make sure to have a read about this fantastic group, who were a fundamental part of a big recipe who make our community.
