THE HOUSING SURVEY

One of the objectives of the Community Action Plan is more affordable housing locally.

We see that homes will be built and made available in Inverfarigaig – but where else should they be?  What type of housing is required?  Is there a need? What impact will that have?

The Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust want you to tell us.

The ‘Our Homes’ Community Action Group agreed to conduct a ‘Stratherrick, Foyers and Surrounding Areas Housing Survey’ and have commissioned Communities Housing Trust to do this on our behalf.  This Community Trust Board welcomed this as they felt it was important to gather you view and dig deeper on such a key and important subject that came through loud and clear in the Community Action Plan.  The results of this will evidence need on behalf of the community which will help with planning and funding.

The survey will be distributed online at www.chtrust.co.uk/surveys from Wednesday 21st September.  Please do take part and have your say.

THE CHILDCARE SURVEY

Following on from the Community Action Plan that was undertaken in 2021, several action groups have been formed to help take forward some of the aspirations of the Community. One of these being to improve childcare in the area. To help the group establish need and gather evidence for funding applications, can we please ask that you follow the link below and complete the survey. It would be really helpful if you could complete even if you would not use any childcare facilities so that we can gather the full picture.

As survey returns are limited, we ask that only one reply per family is submitted. Stratherrick and Foyers childcare needs survey (surveymonkey.co.uk) . Please complete by Friday 23rd September.

Finally, if you would be interested in joining the action group to help take this idea forward, please email sharon@sfctrust.org.uk Nothing too onerous but would be great to have some more parents at the meetings that are keen to see this happen.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE CYCLE, RUNNING, WALKING OR HOIRSE RIDING ROUTE

What's your favourite cycle, running, walking or horse riding route in Stratherrick and Foyers?

We want to know!

The information will be given to our Community Pathways aCTION Group who are currently auditing cycle, running, walking and horse riding routes and they don't want to miss any.

The group of community volunteers are currently reviewing routes and what needs to be done to upgrade them with help from the Trust or stakeholder groups like the Council or Forestry.  They will cross reference that with your favourite routes, just to make sure everywhere is covered.

This information will also be used to seek additional funding as well.

It would be great if you could tell or describe your favourite route - maybe even with a picture of a great view - and send it to tony-ceo@sfctrust.org.uk by the end of September.

MORE FEEDBACK

Next week we meet again Nick Wright to kick off the second part of the Community Action Plan which will hopefully give us a visual representation of each area.  This work will hopefully be finished by end of December.  Nick recently did a survey for Boleskine Community Care on their services too.

The Trust always hopes to get your view on all our projects.  We are still waiting on planning getting back to us on Riverside Field and the Slipway so apologies to those community groups awaiting information.  You will know when we know!  Always good to remind you of the survey results before going into Planning In Principle which was granted for the Field.  Here they are Riverside Field Survey Results | 22 June 2021 | Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust (stratherrickcommunity.org.uk)

OUR FEEDBACK TO FUNDERS

Every year we have to provide feedback to our funders what we are doing – and this years Stratherrick and Foyers feature quite heavily in their annual report.

I am pleased to provide a link to the SSE Renewables Community Investment Review 2021/22. The review highlights that SSE have donated over £9.6 million in community projects in Great Britain and Ireland in the last year.

www.sserenewables.com/poweringlocalchange

The report shows that 1,048 community projects have been supported. The scale and impact of projects continues to grow from community owned housing projects in the Scottish Highlands, rural skills programmes in the Great Glen to environmental projects in Galway. These projects provide a lasting impact on the socio-economic development of the regions.

There has been a drive by communities to take action to support a net zero future from community electric transport in the Scottish Borders and Highlands, local food growing projects in County Tyrone to district heating development in South Lanarkshire. The investment shows that small actions by individual communities can make collective impact on a net zero transition.

The Trust continue to review these developments and learn from other communities what we can do here, making Stratherrick and Foyers a better place to live and work.
