FIVE THINGS FOR A FRIDAY
IT’S COLD…
So, this may be important for you.
Details are available now about a local grant from Highland Council to help you with energy efficiency measures for your own home. To register your interest now email: EES-ABS@highland.gov.uk Please quote: EES:ABS 2022/23 – SFCT
Take a look at their website too with more advice here. This is a local grant and although there is set criteria it would be useful to apply if eligible Energy Efficient Scotland | Energy and sustainability | The Highland Council
HAPPY TO HELP
I know the Trust do not normally fund business ideas or individuals regarding their bills but I am proud we have managed to get some wriggle room from funders SSE to use our funds to help people in these unusual times over Christmas and New Year 2022.
25 applications (possibly more now) have been made for the Food and Fuel grant – check out the latest newsletter being delivered to your door for the application form on the back page (it may be slightly late due to postal delays)
The Whitebridge Hotel has been offering subsidised food/warm place to meet and social activities on a Friday (you can also pay full price for Fish and Chips if you can and join the fun!). We have been running initiatives in the Wildside Centre on Wednesdays and thanks to some funding from alternative sources as part of the Brolly Group we will be running larders in the new year and seeking workable ideas for other proposals some of you have asked for.
WINTER WONDERLAND SUCCESS
Winter Wonderland seems to have been a great success with some great feedback on the night and since the event. It was really nice to see the primary children all back and able to participate after Covid restrictions and for those who went to see Santa and all his elves I hope he was nice to you and gave you a great present to go home with. Some of the changes were based on your feedback from last year and it was lovely to see many of you commenting on things you might not even think about, like to improved walkway around the building making it easier underfoot to see the lights. A big thank you to everyone who came along, who volunteered on the night, ran a stall and worked their socks off prior to and in the snow to make it a memorable event. Please do give your feedback here before the end of 19th December WILDSIDE CENTRE EVENT SURVEY - Winter Wonderland 2022 (surveymonkey.co.uk)
STANDBY FOR ACTION…
It’s been a busy week catching up after Winter Wonderland and concentrating on your major legacy projects, from Errogie to Riverside Field to Housing to Childcare and more! Although, as I indicated earlier, many of us are juggling the here and now we are working hard to meet the needs of people in the future. These are projects, defined by you in the CAP, that other communities take for granted from arts, heritage and biodiversity centres to sports facilities on your doorstep. All the projects compliment things that exist, from the Hub to Stratherrick Hall to the Wildside Centre but also consider the infrastructure for people to live and work comfortably and enjoy our beautiful countryside at the same time. It’s a very exciting and vibrant time and with a positive attitude I hope we can achieve great things, despite any challenges we all face.
AND FINALLY
This is my last Five Things For A Friday for 2022. I’d like to thank all the volunteers, Board Members, Staff Members and community members who showed their support in many ways over the last twelve months. You are all fantastic and I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
