Check out the very latest updates from the action groups in our community! There is a lot of work going on. If you are not part of an action group and would like to be involved, please email tony at
COMMUNITY LIFE ACTION GROUP
CHILDCARE
The Childcare Group, which came out of their last meeting, are progressing and the headline results from the survey on childcare are in. The full report will be looked at by the Group but the headline are;
23 responses, split fairly evenly over the area with highest responses from Gorthleck at 6
87% said they didn't use childcare in the area (mainly as there isn't any!) but only one respondent said they used a Neighbour occasionally. No other examples were given.
78% said the lack of childcare had affected their employment in some way
74% said they would use local childcare if it was available at some point
People are looking for a range of childcare with afterschool club/wrapround childcare, childcare for under 3's and a childminder in their own home all scoring evenly and highly.
The childcare group met last night (Monday 14th November) to look at advancing childcare solutions in the area.
THE HUBS
A PlayPark Consultation has been undertaken at Wildside. We have done test digs at the land beside the Wildside Centre (we don’t own it) and Highland Council has agreed to sell it to us.
ERROGIE CHURCH
The final designs are being discussed for a submission to planning.
SLIPWAY
The Slipway is in planning, and we are responding to additional questions.
RIVERSIDE
We believe a decision on planning is imminent after being awarded Planning In Principle. We can then take forward the plans with a steering group and local residents.
More detailed and weekly updates on all these projects can be found here: Projects
OUTDOORS & NATURE ACTION GROUP
The sub group working on the paths audit have produced the list for walking, cycling, running and horse riding – it can be read on page 19 to 21 of the magazine here: Magazine
If you have any paths to add let Tony know at tony-ceo@sfctrust.org.uk
We are hoping to have a meeting with the Council, Forestry and Visit Loch Ness Inverness to establish who maintains each pathway and what plans there are for these routes in November. This will help us direct our resources to paths in our area that are not maintained by anyone and how we can work together to develop these routes.
We have also met with an App designer to get a sense of what will be required and cost. This app will not only guide people to the routes but may also allow for reporting if there are any issues on route that need to be addressed.
