We are on Malcolm’s Bucket List!

For many locals in Stratherrick and Foyers the Loch Ness Marathon and Etape Loch Ness are highlights of the year. Committed volunteers from all over the area get a lot out of helping these massive races go ahead. As we all know so much money is raised for local and national charities too.

Malcolm Sutherland of Caledonian Concepts is Race Director for both events. Malcolm commented ‘The local volunteers really contribute to our events. Local people marshalling and cheering on the participants is one of the most valuable features of the races and is often highlighted in their feedback of the event.’

Tony Foster of Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust said ‘The Wildside Centre at Whitebridge and the new toilets at Foyers are both on the route of the races. They have a part to play to ensure both events run smoothly.’

Tony added ‘When the Trust needed a few more plastic bins to use at the Etape Loch Ness and the Loch Ness Marathon events we asked Malcolm. There was no hesitation in saying ‘Yes’ and our facilities officer Matt collected them in Inverness last week.’

‘On behalf of the Trust, I’d like to thank Caledonian Concepts for this useful gift. The different coloured bins will be well used and help us re-cycle as much rubbish as we possibly can.’

The Loch Ness Marathon is due to take place again on 1 October 2023 with 8000 runners are expected. Loch Ness Marathon - Marathon and Running Festival in Scotland
