Well, what can we say! What an amazing weekend at Winter Wonderland! Filled with snow, lights and a lot of smiling children (and adults!)
Winter Wonderland 2022 was by far the best yet, with perfect weather for such an event! With approximately 400 members of the community turning out over the two nights it was the busiest year yet. Thank you to everyone that braved the weather and came and supported the local market, our community groups and visited our beloved grotto! The light show, organised by Calum Martin and his fantastic team made the whole event possible and we could not recommend them highly enough, nothing was too much bother, and they went above and beyond to put on the best show possible for the community. It was great to have the Stratherrick & Foyers Primary schools take such an active part in the event, they kicked off both evenings with some fantastic carol singing and really got everyone in the festive spirit! As well as singing, both schools had some lovely crafts and cakes to sell which were a real hit! The Monadhliath ladies also gave us some cracking performances over the two nights and next year we will really try and get the community sing along to take off!
Our community groups did a fabulous job as well! With traybakes made by the Soup to Go team, the Wildcrafts groups had tables of amazing handmade gifts ranging from soaps to tablet, to Christmas stockings! It just shows what a creative community we have. The Stratherrick & Foyers Parent Councils took on the raffle and they did an outstanding job, raising a whopping £656! The local fire brigade was on hand to dish out mulled wine and mince pies which sold out over the two nights!
Santa’s Grotto, where do we start! A massive thank you to the Stronlairg panel for funding such amazing presents during these difficult times, there was some very excited children at the event! And thank you to Santa for visiting our community and spreading joy to us all.
We must say the biggest thank you to absolutely every volunteer and elf who made the whole event come together, it wouldn’t have been possible without you all. It was really amazing to have so many of you come forward and take part, whether it was before, during or after the event. We are looking forward to next year already and keep an eye out for our feedback survey which will be available shortly, where you can leave your ideas for next year and give us your thoughts on how everything went!
Merry Christmas everyone!
