A proud moment for the members of the South Loch Ness Heritage Group.

Members of our local Heritage and History group, the South Loch Ness Heritage Group, were honoured with a marvellous award following lots of hard work and time spent restoring our War memorial to its wonderful condition. They were recognised by judges as having the "Best Kept War Memorial in Scotland"! What an achievement for the volunteers in the community! Group representative Alister Chisholm (centre) is pictured being presented with a certificate recognising their efforts by Councillor David Fraser and Community Councillor Gary McGowan, at a gathering held at Gorthleck Hall, following a fitting, reflective and respectful ceremony held at the Memorial on Remembrance Sunday.

Congratulations and sincere thanks must also go to all the members of the Spin and Chatter group, who knitted the innumerable poppies that adorn the monument, as well as to Calum and Graham Martin, who tastefully light up the monument in a red glow when the sun sets. All these folks deserve all our thanks for their efforts in honouring and respecting those who made the ultimate sacrifice, so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have today.
