Health and wellbeing focus group update!
Wednesday, 11 June 2025

Thank you to all that attended and contributed to what was a very successful 1st focus group on health and wellbeing! The conversations were wide ranging with lots of super ideas and input.

From this, we have put together a very short survey with the ideas that came up and an opportunity for anyone that wasn't able to attend to give us there thoughts.

We are looking to collate and work on -

What we can work on/start straight away - needs little or no funding

Medium term goals - what will need a project and funding plan but not large amounts of funds required

Long term goals - aspirational thoughts of what health and wellbeing facilities/services could look like in the area. Would require more detailed proposals, project and funding plan.

We established that as well as the great outdoors and all the local pathways, we have the Stratherrick Hall and the Wildside centre that can be used for activities. BCC hub is already used for some classes and they are looking to host therapy sessions there too. Creche facilities and/or classes you could take your small children too were discussed and a strong sense of the need for connection as well as physical exercise came through.

We are delighted to see that one of the topics discussed; a beginners running club, has been kickstarted by local running legend, Alex Sutherland! The 1st date for this is Sunday 15th June, meeting at the Wildside centre at 2pm.

We will make sure some paper copies are available at the Wildside centre, the doctor's surgery, Stratherrick hall, the hub and the shop. A further focus group meeting will be held once we have the results of the survey. We will make the next one is on a evening to allow others to attend that couldn't make during the day.
